«Kinder mit geringen oder ohne Deutschkenntnisse können in Regelklassen nur schwer dem Unterricht folgen. Sie brauchen spezielle Förderung. Die Materialien in «Kiras Lernwelt» eignen sich für die Arbeit in kleinen Lerngruppen und anschließend zur selbstständigen Bearbeitung. Die Kinder üben in erster Linie mündliche Sprachfähigkeiten: Die Wortschatz- und Satzbildungsarbeit steht im Vordergrund. Die dabei verwendete Sprache ist gebunden an Situationen aus der unmittelbaren Erfahrungswelt der Kinder und aus dem Sachunterricht. Aussage- und Fragesätze sowie die Benutzung häufiger Fragepronomen führen zu einem vorbewussten Umgang mit grammatischen Strukturen. Ganz wichtig: Aufgaben zum Hören als Basiskompetenz und phonetische Übungen begleiten die einzelnen Lernschritte. Parallel dazu enthält das Material Übungen zum Schriftspracherwerb — als Ergänzung zum Erstleseunterricht. Wort-Bild-Karten Zum Ordnen, Legen, Sortieren und Memorieren: Diese Karten enthalten den notwendigen Wortschatz.
