Friends is a motivating course for young secondary level pupils. The material is designed to capture students' interest through a variety of different contexts including humour, fiction, real life and cross cultural material. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in three steps — presentation, comprehension and practice. Reading for pleasure is encouraged and a carefully graded programme develops reading skills. Each student's book contains eight sections with four lessons in it followed by a revision section. 'Reading corners' and 'culture corners' develop students' skills.
