Parece que Doyle y el doctor Watson no tenían los mismos puntos de vista sobre el interés de las correrías de Holmes. Mientras el primero lo consideraba un entrometido que le impedía dedicarse a cosas «más serias», Watson se empeñaba en resucitar los casos que tenía cuidadosamente anotados en su archivo.
