Tra le opere dantesche cosiddette minori, la Vita Nova si caratterizza per un'apparente linearita e limpidezza che si е soliti far coincidere con la narrazione dell'amore tutto ideale di Dante per Beatrice nella forma mista di prosa e di versi, di realta e di finzione. Tuttavia, dietro tale superficie rassicurante si nasconde uno dei testi piu conflittuali e problematici della pur avanguardistica produzione letteraria dantesca: le immagini nitide e levigate delle donne gentili contengono in realta il consuntivo di un ormai concluso apprendistato poetico assai vario, l'affrancamento dai capiscuola della generazione precedente, italiani e provenzali, e la promozione di Dante a poeta che rinnova in modo del tutto originale la visione dell'amore, il tema per eccellenza delle nuove letterature volgari europee. La presente edizione a cura di Luca Carlo Rossi, autore del commento e della postfazione, riproduce la nuova edizione critica di Guglielmo Gorni che restaura l'originaria paragrafatura dell'opera, fondata sul nove, il numero amico di Beatrice, e ripristina la patina arcaizzante della grafia antica. Alia elegante scrittura di Gorni si deve anche lo scritto originale su Beatrice, primadonna assoluta delle nostre lettere, posto come introduzione alia lettura di questo capolavoro assoluto della tradizione poetica italiana. |

La Commedia di Dante ha avuto molti commenti, chiose, edizioni critiche in questi secoli. Lo scopo di questa edizione (che presenta i canti più significativi) non è quello di proporre un ulteriore commento, ma di aiutare il lettore straniero ad avvicinarsi all'originale dantesco. Per questo scopo c'è una parafrasi in italiano odierno e un apparato di note che spiegano i riferimenti, le allegorie, il lessico più complesso. |
